In this series which was made in response to the war on terror, Mahmood constructs items of jewellery and objects that constitute a bride's dowry in Pakistan. The gems have been replaced with pomegranate seeds and pieces of shrapnel, transforming these symbols of procreation into one of an ill fated dowry laden with tragedy. The mourning bride is a metaphor for the artist's grieving homeland.
